History
The Montana Equipment Dealers Association (MEDA) began as the Montana Hardware and Implement Dealers Association in 1907. At the turn of the century, farm implement dealers were almost always hardware stores as well, and most towns had a hardware and implement store. At one time, the MHIA was the largest association in the state. Ninety years later, the name changed to more closely reflect the actual membership of farm implement dealers and construction equipment dealers. The association has grown to represent nearly every type of equipment dealership in Montana. At the beginning of 2008 membership was extended to also include the Motor Sports Dealers.
Today, MEDA members who are farm implement dealerships are automatically members of the North American Equipment Dealers Association (NAEDA). Additionally, NAEDA works to foster good relations between dealers and manufacturers.
Construction dealers in MEDA can also join the Associated Equipment Distributors (AED). AED offers CE dealers numerous benefits which can be viewed at www.aednet.org.
MEDA is a very active trade group on regulatory and legislative issues. MEDA also offers nationally known speakers at our educational seminars during our annual conference to improve the professionalism of the industry. The annual conference is held in October each year and attracts a vast majority of members. This year will be our 102nd annual convention!.
Dues Investment: $300 per year per dealership plus $200 for each location: farm implement dealers are also dual members in the North American Equipment Dealers Association (NAEDA). You will receive a subscription to their publication, as well as our in-house newsletter with regional news bulletins. Allied Member Dues are $150 per year and include suppliers, manufacturers and other related businesses, such as insurance and finance companies.
Business Services: Our most popular program is a Worker's Compensation policy that boasts competitive rates, as well as a premium dividend opportunity to further reduce your overall expense! Other services include group Health Insurance - now approved for the Insure Montana program, credit card processing and and payroll services, as well as used equipment guides and other programs through IRON Solutions.
IRON Solutions, LLC www.ironsolutions.com is the technology and services company created as a partnership between the North American Equipment Dealers Association (NAEDA), the regional Dealer Association and Central Communications. IRON Solutions publishes the Official Guide for Used Equipment, provides Sales Management Solutions, assists in web site development and offers various Internet resources and other new technologies.
IRON Solutions offers a portal site, the IRON Web, with news and information about the equipment industry; IRON Search, a used equipment locater for agricultural, industrial and outdoor power equipment; IRON Dealer, for dealer-to-dealer information and IRON Chat, to bring together dealers and customers for discussions about equipment and industry related issues. Additionally, IRON Web provides links to other sites of interest to the equipment industry. IRON Solutions is the source of information and assistance to dealers across North America as they embrace new technologies.
